Plus 60-75 minutes for the subway to midtown Manhattan. A new light rail service exists: a 1.8-mile loop linking the nine airline terminals (8 minutes to complete the loop) in JFK's Central Terminal Area; a 3.3-mile extension includes stops at airport car rental facilities and an employee/long-term parking lot, terminating at the Howard Beach subway (12 minutes) for the A subway. Or you can take it 3 miles to the Jamaica station for transfers to Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) trains, the E, J, and Z subway lines, and more than a dozen bus lines. Terminal connections are free; service to and from Howard Beach and Jamaica is $5 using a pay-per-ride MetroCard. AirTrain is fully ADA compliant. |
